Chotae Bachae is an Indian cultural group that is open to students from Years 2 - 6.
In this group children learn Indian dances.
The group meets every Tuesday at lunch time and is lead by Mrs Wilson.
When asked why she runs the Chotae Bachae group, Mrs Wilson gave the following reply:
"...To share my cultural heritage with the students from other cultures and ethnic backgrounds within my school. The students will be able to enjoy listening
to Indian music, learn dances and dress up in Indian costumes.
Students will perform for an audience at school and the community. e.g: Manurewa library and St. Andrew’s school."
"It has been a pleasure for me to see the different cultures in my school learning Indian dances.
This group has been going now for 14 years at our school. Each year the group gets bigger and bigger. I love working with the students in Chotae Bachae and it gives me a real sense of pride to see so many children enjoy participating and experiencing a new culture."
