On Tuesday the 1st November, our amazing Diversity Choir performed at the Manurewa Diversity Choir Festival alongside choirs, dancers and cultural groups from schools across Manurewa.
It was a stunning display of the incredible talent and pride within our community.
We are so proud of our choir, they were absolute superstars and represented our school with excellence and mana.
They even performed a Tahitian dance!
Ka mau te wehi, Diversity Choir.
Last week, we celebrated Te wiki o Te Reo Māori.
We started everyday with a karakia and waiata and enjoyed taking part in some kanikani (dance), mahi toi (art), pāngarau (maths) and panui (reading).

Some of our Year 6 students decided to enter the 2022 APPA speech competition. From our school presentation, Liana and Bethany were chosen to represent MCS at the Manurewa Cluster competition.
This was held on Wednesday 24 August at Reremoana Primary. The girls represented themselves, our school, and their families extremely well. We are super proud of them both.
Liana will go on to represent the Manurewa Cluster at the Auckland finals on Wednesday 7 September. The theme for this year's Reu Tahi is 'Discover' and we have definitely discovered that we have some very talented tamariki at MCS.
Netball
We are very proud of our Netball teams that have competed at the Saturday tournament at Manurewa Netball Courts.
Thank you to all the parents for their support and a huge thank you to Mrs Lowe, Whaea Karen Tusani and Miss McQuoid for coaching and managing our teams.
Year fours, fives and sixes battled their way through muddy fields and open terrain and came out better runners.
They ran their little hearts out and everyone emerged with a big smile, happy that they don't ever have to do running again.
But seriously, they loved it.
Lyla was our team cheerleader of the day encouraging everyone."

We are so proud of our Cook Island group for performing the dance they have been learning to open the week.
They were fantastic.
We have also been celebrating Cook Island Language Week by making flags, more dancing, visiting the library to watch a special show by Turou Takitua and making our own 'ei katu!
On Thursday 15th May, the school councillors, house captains went to the Spark Arena to attend NYLD (National Young Leaders Day) NYLD helps students to be better leaders.
Five guest speakers came on the stage and talked about their stories and what the theme of resilience meant to them. The first speaker was William Pike. A mountain climber who lost his leg in a volcanic eruption. The second speaker was Georgia Line, a famous pop singer. The third speaker was Georgia Lau, the owner of the world's most famous poi manufacturer. Sam Johnson, a helper in the Christchurch earthquake and David Letele, the founder of ButterBean Motivation.
It was really cool and I hope it will inspire the next generation of young leaders.

NYLD was an astonishing experience.
The House Captains and School Councillors adored this event. The NYLD stands for National Young Leaders Day. This outstanding event made me learn new things and do things while having an amazing time. We all got to sing loudly like a lion roaring. House Captains and Councillors got to be a little adventurous. We got to meet people who had a little chaos in their life, like the first speaker we met was William Pike. He lost his leg due to a volcano eruption. Then Georgia Latu she had started her own poi business at the age of 15. There were 2 other speakers that we also enjoyed. I am honoured to have gone to this NYLD.
