The Enrolment Process

We would be pleased for you to consider enrolling your child at Manurewa Central School.

If you are considering taking this step, you are welcome to contact the office to make an appointment with our deputy principal, so you can see the school and discuss any questions you have.

When you are ready to enrol your child, please make an appointment to complete the necessary forms as soon as possible.

Please also bring with you your child's birth certificate, immunisation form (completed by your family doctor or Well Child vaccination record) and proof of residence for all families residing within the school zone (rental agreement or utilities notice clearly showing residential address).



Our Enrolment Scheme and Ballot Information

Manurewa Central School caters for learners in Years 1-6.

Families who wish to enrol their child at Manurewa Central School for next year, 2025 are invited to complete an Application for Ballot entry at the school office.

Enrolment at Manurewa Central School is governed by a Ministry of Education approved enrolment scheme.

Under this scheme, students will be enrolled if they live within the home zone broadly bordered by Halver Road, Knox Road, Hill Road, (up to and including numbers 48 and 61), Scenic Drive (along to Kelvyn Grove), Kelvyn Grove, Great South Road (from Alfriston Road to numbers 90 and 91), Corin Road, Beatty Ave, Maich Road (up to 38 and 39). Students living within this determined school zone will have absolute right to enrolment at Manurewa Central School.

Manurewa Central School zone includes Halver Road, Knox Road, Hill Road, (up to and including numbers 48 and 61), Scenic Drive (along to Kelvyn Grove), Kelvyn Grove, Great South Road (from Alfriston Road to numbers 90 and 91), Corin Road, Beatty Ave, Maich Road (up to 38 and 39).



Out of Zone Enrolment

Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone.

The board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.

The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.

Applications for out of zone enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:

  • 1.   Applicants who are siblings of current students
  • 2.   Applicants who are siblings of former students
  • 3.   Any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school
  • 4.   Any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the Board of the school or a child of a member of the Board of the school
  • 5.   All other applicants

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989.

Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.

Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
