Sustainable Gardens - 2024
The children from Nikau have been tidying up the school gardens, orchard, planters, greenhouse and even the shed.
They have set up three wormeries and we have been maintaining the compost heap.
The children have designed bird scarers out of old CDs.
They have put cat deterrants in the planters.
With the support of OKE gardener Helen we have planted beetroot, kale, spinach, silverbeet, broccoli, carrots and lots of other healthy vegetables.
Mr Cheal has created an awesome planter for us to use in our greenhouse.
We have a group of dedicated students who daily check our gardens, they weed, water, pick up litter and feed our worms food scraps.
